This example is from Julian Barnes’s personal collection and features a handmade cover mailed to the author prior to publication. A letter from the publisher was placed inside the book that reads, in part:

“I enclose the Serbo-Croatian version of A History of the World in 10 1/2 Chapters. […] [T]he book cover was put together by hand because the final print wasn’t ready by my departure date. […] At least it gives you an idea of what will be appearing in Yugoslav bookstores.” [Signed Christina Pribichevich-Zoric]

This book was republished by Centar za Geopoetiku in 1996.
